Comics#8

Spirit and Mutt; hands in the air are being led away by a group of vipers when Junkyard runs in front of them chasing a cat. Mutt whispers to the dog trying to get him to leave only to be hit by a viper who tells him to be quiet. Junkyard attacks the viper who hit his master and it is all the diversion the two Joes need. Spirit takes out the other two vipers mashing their heads together. Cobra reinforcements are coming out of the house but they don't get far. Russ a Vietnam vet and citizen of Millville is in a captured HISS II, he shoots them down. Spirit and Mutt join Russ in the HISS II but a Bugg is in quick pursuit. Spirit swivels the tank's turret and destroys the lighter armored Bugg. The televipers call in an air strike of two FANG II helicopters. Seeing the HISS II rolling down the street the pilots destroy it. The trio watch from a nearby building, their ruse has worked. They now head for the safety of some citizens who most likely have evaded being brainwashed by Cobra.
At the Pit Hawk and General Hollingsworth give Flint, Lady Jaye, Muskrat, and Roadblock a sealed envelope with top secret orders. Soon a large transport plane lands. The Joes load their equipment on board, the crew doesn't speak to them, and their uniforms have no markings. They try speaking Spanish, German, French, and Japanese to them with no luck. A voice from the back tells them it might be easier if they tried Russian. It's Daina, the new leader of the October Guard, the other remaining member of the guard Dragonsky is with her. Two new recruits, Lt Gorky of the Black Sea regiment, and Sgt Misha of Spetsnaz, are also there.
In Millville Russ takes Spirit and Mutt to meet his group. It turns out that these are juvenile delinquents. Russ tries to rally them with a speech about civil liberties, responsibility and so forth. It doesn't seem the group is interested. Mutt Spirit and Russ leave but they are being followed, they brace for an attack but see that it is the kids. They make a plan to raid Cobra HQ.
In Sierra Gordo the Russian AN 24 Condor transport carrying the joint task force, is heading to the airfield which is supposed to be in friendly hands. Gorky and Lady Jaye flirt a bit and Flint is obviously miffed. A jolt shakes the plane. It's been hit. On the Ground Darklon orders his DEMONs onto the runway. They fire into the oncoming plane and kill the pilots. Lt Gorky and Lady Jaye take the controls as the plane skids wildly on its belly down the runway. They swing the plane to face the column of DEMONs. Roadblock and Sgt Misha shoot down the rear ramp and the Joes and Guard members drive their vehicles out the back. The large transport burrows through several DEMONs smashing them. Darklon evades the crash and orders a pursuit. Daina knows that something has gone terribly wrong, where were the rebels who were supposed to secure the airfield? She vows that whoever is to blame will answer to her.
In a NY hospital Scarlett, after being shot by the Baroness, is in a coma. Snake Eyes is at her side. Storm Shadow looks on. They discuss how the doctors think that she can sense his presence when he is near of course for a ninja it makes perfect sense. Suddenly a redheaded woman bursts into the room and interrupts them demanding that they leave. It is Scarlett's sister Sioban; and she has a court order to terminate her life support.

An October Guard BMP is being followed by Flint in a Desert Fox. Both vehicles just barely escaped a crashed Soviet Transport and are heading into the jungles of Sierra Gordo. Darklon and two Razorbacks, number 7 and 11 are in pursuit.
Seeing the Russian BMP in a clearing at the top of a hill the Razorback cripples it with a missile. Flint speeds by as the Russians look on and the Joes watch helplessly. Daina says she would have done the same thing. However on the speeding Desert Fox Roadblock, Lady Jaye, and Muskrat, convince Flint to turn back they have noticed how he may have been jealous of LT Gorky and Lady Jaye's interactions. They gather up the Russians and load them into the Fox. Unfortunately they have lost the element of surprise as a Razorback spots them. The Cobra forces didn't know they were involved or that there were two vehicles. Muskrat destroys a Razorback with the main gun on the Desert Fox. A large ravine looms up ahead. Just like Evel Knievel Flint jumps over it the Fox possibly too heavy but they make it. The Razorback behind them attempts to do the same only to fall short. Darklon deems pursuit unnecessary as the team has just invaded Headhunter territory.
Back in Millville, brainwashed citizens are busy working in the factories. A phone call comes in and we watch as the brainwashed Uncle Jeff rudely yells at Law who was checking up on Mutt and wanted the two dogs to talk to each other. Cobra is controlling all possible outside interference this way. As Cobra Commander and Fred 23 look on the windows around them are blown out. The garage which acts as a motor pool, The Police station and Brainwave Scanner trailers have all been attacked. Mutt and Spirit and some local kids have begun a rebellion. A Bugg pursues their pick up truck and they keep firing at it. They lead it into an alley where Spirit rolls a dumpster full of scrap off a roof right onto the cockpit. They escape as a Mamba helicopter floats overhead. Back at the hideout it becomes clear that these attacks are having an effect on the young rebels.
In Sierra Gordo the Joes drive along until they reach a massive tree blocking their path. They stop and are quickly surrounded. Roadblock recognizes the aggressors as being Tucaros. He mentions Recondo's name and how they met up on a previous mission. The name sets the Tucaros abuzz, their leader Anibal, an educated man, appears. After revealing they truly know Recondo they are spared.
Darklon reports the situation to Destro who is incognito on a roof top with the Baroness, things are going well and Destro is setting up a puppet Government.
In NY Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow are outside Scarlett's hospital room. Her sister has expedited the process of disconnecting Scarlett's life support. After it is done, Snake Eyes tears past Sioban, rips off his bandages and kneeling at his love's bedside, says her name.

Storm Shadow breaks into the Pentagon. He confronts the Jugglers and a few MPs. The Generals attempt to fire on him but are no match. Storm Shadow throws a shuriken into a General's pistol barrel, plops down a file folder containing some blackmail material and demands they set up a gritty mission for Snake Eyes to take his mind off Scarlett's situation. The mission is a particular one involving George Strawhacker.
In Sierra Gordo Roadblock and Sgt. Misha are holding off HISS II tanks, DEMONs, and Razorbacks on foot. Cobra Condor planes bomb the jungle relentlessly. In between issues Muskrat, Lt. Gorky and a few Tucaros have been injured in the bombing. Roadblock and Sgt. Misha find a mountain pass that bears a resemblance to the one the Spartans defended in Thermopylae. The Desert Fox moves ahead with the wounded. Things go well at the rocky crevice until the Cobra forces fire missiles into it. Roadblock can't see and Sgt Misha is unable to move his legs are full of shrapnel. Darklon approaches the pass.
Mutt and Spirit are still leading a resistance in Millville; they are attacking the mill only to find they have stumbled into a group of very angry workers who no longer appear brainwashed. Having no reason to confront them now Mutt and Spirit and the locals who haven't been brainwashed are forced to leave. Just as they are leaving, local police units arrive as well as Hawk and Law in a Tiger Force Stinger. As the whole town appears normal now Hawk orders Law to arrest Mutt and Spirit and takes them into custody.
In NY Sioban has disconnected Scarlett's life support and now refuses to let Snake Eyes or Stalker near her. As the two begrudgingly leave the hospital they run into Storm Shadow. The ninja explains the mission he has gotten for Snake Eyes, to rescue George Strawhacker the former fiancee of Snake Eyes' twin sister, Teri.
Sierra Gordo: A cobra column checks out the mountain pass, believing they have chased the Joes and Russians into the forest, they return to the work of hacking down more trees. Flint watches the scene through binoculars on a far away hill. Through the smoke arrives Roadblock with the Russian Sgt. Misha on his back. Misha guides him as his eyes are bandaged.
In Millville the Joes have left. A phone rings at the mill, the foreman Jake goes to answer it. After hearing the Joes are gone a word is mentioned over the phone: Broca. He says the word aloud and soon the brainwashing is restored.
High over Borovia, a B2 bomber flies. In its bomb bay are Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. Storm shadow applies the Arashikage mind set; turning Snake Eyes into a lethal machine. Stalker and Storm Shadow watch as Snake Eyes deploys.
It soon becomes apparent that Storm Shadow's efforts may have been premature. Scarlett has woken up. Sioban is fit to be tied with the Doctors they said there was no chance for recovery. Scarlett asks for Snake Eyes.

Snake Eyes parachutes into Borovia. He lands in the middle of an uprising where a statue is torn down. Metz, a resistance leader, is giving a speech and some local Special Police are about to shoot him down. They fire into the square. Snake Eyes enters the room through a window. As he is in an Arashikage mindset the police have no chance. They think they have won when Snake Eyes runs out of ammo but soon learn otherwise. A few rebels storm the building to go to his aid. A couple bodies are tossed out the window and land in front of Metz. The rebels and Metz enter the room only to find dead security police. Metz calls out to a man in a trench coat that may have seen the one who did this but gets no answer.
Scarlett is asking for Snake eyes and her sister Sioban is at her bedside. Scarlett tells her that none of this was needed, if she wanted the house in Atlanta she would have gladly signed it over to her. Realizing her mistake Sioban leaves the room, tears in her eyes. Hawk enters the room and Scarlett asks him to rescind the restraining order preventing her from seeing Snake Eyes. Hawk breaks the news to her about him being in Borovia.
At Rheinmain AFB in Frankfurt Germany. Stalker and Storm Shadow are climbing down from the B2 that inserted Snake eyes. Storm Shadow senses something targeting them but its too late a hail of tranquilizer darts hit them. They are hauled back up into the B2. General Crowther, a Juggler, boards the plane and tells Storm Shadow that his mission choice wasn't appreciated by those higher up than he. They have hired someone to stop Snake Eyes from completing the mission, Storm Shadow says it will do no good because of the mindset, and Crowther kicks the dazed ninja. He tells him that now he needs to keep the two Joes on ice so they don't attempt their own rescue mission, and just before he passes out Crowther tells Storm Shadow about how it is all in vain as Scarlett is now awake from her coma and is going to live.
Back in Borovia Metz is organizing an attack on the Secret Police HQ; he has been motivated by Snake Eyes' one man attack. The White Clown (issue 66) and Orlovsky watch as the building burns. This upsets the White Clown as the records that would tell the whereabouts of his beloved Magda are in that building.
Dressed as a man in a trench coat and hat Snake Eyes leaps over the barricades. Seeing his acrobatic skill the White Clown realizes that this man must be Snake Eyes who he knew from meeting before. He and Orlovsky follow him inside to help but it seems futile he really doesn't need it. They cover his back. The police surrender as soon as Snake Eyes breaches the room they are in. Concerned only with his mission he heads to the files not even paying attention to his compatriots the White Clown and Orlovsky. The two notice he is a changed man when Metz orders the police put to death and he does nothing. Orlovsky finds Magda's file as Snake Eyes finds Strawhackers. Seeing that they are both in the same Gulag the White Clown proposes they join forces but Snake Eyes doesn't answer. He is so focused on the mission because of the trance he is in. On the street he ignores the pleas of a young girl to save her father from the firing squad that Metz has ordered. He has done nothing but they are calling him a collaborator, the truth is he is a Lower Borovian and the shooting is a racist one. Snake Eyes, Orlovsky, and the White clown speed off in Metz's car as the firing squad does its duty. Metz is unconcerned however and just asks for them to get him a limo. Another man in a trench coat and hat arrives but he also has an eye patch. It is Major Bludd; he approaches Metz giving him the idea that a dead hero is easier to use than a live one.
In Sierra Gordo it looks as if the Joes and Tucaros are going to make it. The forest is just over the next ridge. Anibal, a Tucaro leader, points out that they are home free once they reach the forest. When they reach the ridge however a grim reality sets in as they see nothing but stumps and barren wasteland ahead of them.

Flint, the October Guard, and the Tucaros have reached what used to be a rainforest. Darklon is closing in on them. Wild Bill arrives in the one man Locust chopper and engages Destro's Razorbacks but is soon shot down.
Stretcher and Hot Seat arrive by train in the Raider. They battle the Razorbacks as well and rendezvous with Flint. Wild Bill takes the gunner seat on the Raider. Everyone else piles aboard wherever they can fit. It is another ten miles to the border, the Tucaros choose to stay behind.
Meanwhile in Borovia, Snake eyes and the White Clown are on a mission, they are heading to the Gulag, Snake Eyes to find George Strawhacker, and the White Clown to find his Magda.
We soon see the Raider has a few tricks up its sleeve, Hot Seat traverses the guns to face rearward and surprises the Razorback drivers. The Tucaros hijack a Razorback for their own use.
In New York, Hawk is at Scarlett's bedside, she has come out of a coma, only to learn that Snake Eyes has gone on a mission to Borovia. Snake Eyes went because Storm Shadow arranged the mission to get his mind off what everyone thought was Scarlett's imminent death. Storm Shadow put Snake Eyes in an Arashikage mind set, turning him into a killing machine.
General Crowther, a Juggler, meanwhile has Storm Shadow and Stalker tied up in the torch of the Statue of Liberty.
The Raider is still being pursued, its main guns are now empty, and Hot Seat takes it into a ravine to avoid the Razorbacks. The Razorbacks follow in a parallel ravine. They too have a hidden capability; they raise their turrets and are ready to fire into the opposite ravine. The Raider still has another surprise as well; it rises up revealing a missile rack which dispatches the two Razorbacks at their side. However the Raider is now completely out of ammo, and Darklon, in the D.E.M.O.N. figures he has easy prey. He prepares to fire and is stopped when a Razorback commandeered by Tucaros destroys his D.E.M.O.N. The Tucaros take Darklon prisoner as he will make a handy bargaining chip in the fight to preserve the remaining forest.
Snake Eyes has reached his objective. He is unstoppable. The White Clown and Orlovsky watch from afar with binoculars. Orlovsky tells the White Clown Magda wouldn't want this and would not approve of his behavior.
A chopper flies in overhead and lands at the Gulag. Inside we find Metz who has political ambitions, and Major Bludd. Major Bludd, sniper rifle in hand, reveals he has been sent by the Jugglers to kill Snake Eyes.

Snake-Eyes continues his assault on the Gulag, still in an Arashikage mind set. Magda and George Strawhacker are being held there as prisoners. Unknown to Snake-Eyes Major Bludd has him in his sights. He takes aim and fires, but hits a Gulag guard who is unfortunate enough to block the shot. The guard popped up out of a sewer. After reloading for his next shot Major Bludd turns to find Snake-Eyes has gone into the sewer. Once in the sewer Snake-Eyes runs into a group of guards and an officer. They have George Strawhacker and Magda with them. The officer threatens to kill the prisoners unless Snake-Eyes lowers his gun. The White Clown and Orlovsky rush to Snake-Eyes' aid after seeing Major Bludd arrive.
In the sewer Snake-Eyes drops his gun. The guards fire on him much to their regret as Snake-Eyes engages them with edged weapons. Major Bludd enters the sewer. The Officer threatens to shoot Magda but Strawhacker foils him by head butting him making him miss. Again Major Bludd takes aim, only this time the White Clown stops him by hitting his helmet with a pistol. Snake-Eyes makes quick work of the officer . Major Bludd was only dazed by the attack, he turns his rifle on the White Clown. Bludd himself is also in someone's sights, Orlovsky.
The White Clown is reunited with Magda. George Strawhacker reveals himself to Snake-Eyes, he was his twin sister's fiancee (Issue 103).
After their rescue Magda and the white Clown soon find that Metz has decided to use the Gulag for his own means.
Ethnic cleansing. A young girl who lost her father because Snake-Eyes was in his Arashikage mind set and refused to help, sees the true situation, screaming that they will be shot. Metz knocks her to the ground and is about to shoot her. Strawhacker intervenes only to be shot and killed by Metz. Snake-Eyes turns his weapon on Metz. Metz begs the people for help. Major Bludd however reveals to the angry people that he was hired by Metz to stop Snake-Eyes who would be a possible political rival.
The mob turns on Metz with this revelation. They plan to hang him. Magda and the white clown speak against this action attempting to stop the hanging but they fail. Metz is strung up. Snake-Eyes stops the hanging by shooting through the rope.
A day later we see Snake-Eyes and the little girl Marina, at the border where she expresses her glee that she is going to America with the silent stranger.
Stalker and Storm Shadow escape their bonds in the torch of the Statue of Liberty. A group of thugs hired by General Crowther, a Juggler, are heading up to their position. They are expecting an easy job, two tied up targets. They soon find out otherwise. After a short fight he two head to the thug's boat. They capture it only to be attacked by a helicopter. Stalker shoots the chopper down with a flare gun and the pilot crashes into the boat. The whole event is witnessed by a ferry. Distracted by the explosion the only one who sees Stalker and Storm Shadow climb aboard the ferry is a small boy.

Cobra Commander is meeting with the Night Creeper leader Aleph in the Cobra consulate building's remains. The Night Creepers have a goal, to be employed by Cobra. They point out a few of Cobra's weaknesses in order to negotiate employment. Cobra Commander agrees with them and hires them, their initiation is to get rid of a Cobra traitor.
The Night Creeper disagrees about the mission, stressing the fact the time isn't right. Cobra Commander insists. The Creepers display a show of force as many creepers enter the chamber. A cross bolt shot at the Commander's head makes him realize how good they are and he sends them off on the mission to kill Storm Shadow. He reasons that if he can't trust them he can always hire someone to deal with them as well.
Storm Shadow and Stalker are on a subway fresh from their escape (issue 106). They run into a group of punks, who think they have the upper hand. One look from Storm Shadow and a few words from Stalker and they change their mind. Storm Shadow takes Stalker to his hideout in the water tower on the roof of an extravagant apartment complex.
Meanwhile the Night Creepers head to the Statue of Liberty, the last known whereabouts of Storm Shadow. Not finding them they realize that he has gone to ground in his hidden lair, the water tower.
General Crowther is trying to get Scarlett to reveal the location of Storm Shadow's hide out. Hawk walks in just in time. Scarlett is determined to leave and Crowther is not in the best position. They leave and Scarlett's sister Sioban who tried to terminate her life support soon becomes a means of escape for Scarlett. She walks out right past Hawk and Crowther as Hawk is tearing into him, dressed as her sister. Hawk wants answers, what is happening with Snake Eyes and just why was Storm Shadow and Stalker arrested?
Meanwhile the Night Creepers scale the apartment complex and are preparing to attack the water tower. Storm Shadow, senses the assault and informs Stalker to prepare. There is a battle on the roof soon after and Storm Shadow leads the assailants away. The Creepers follow, as their target isn't Stalker it is Storm Shadow. Scarlett is on her way to the tower, she too runs into the punks who had a run in with Storm Shadow and Stalker. They again think they have an easy mark. She makes short work of them and now she is armed with an ice pick.
Strom Shadow, running from the Night Creepers meets Scarlett in the subway. Scarlett attacks him and he does his best to get her away from the Creepers. The pair dodges a blanketing of arrows and finds themselves on the subway tracks, a train bearing down on them. The train rushes past the Creepers who find blood on the tracks, they start a search for more. Scarlett and Storm Shadow are in-between cars, he hoists her up and she is furious. He explains to her how he planned to go get Snake Eyes out of Borovia and all the events that had transpired. (Previous issues) He then slumps over, the ice pick sticking out his back.

We join a mission in progress. Lt. Falcon is leading an attack on Cobra Terrordromes in Trucial Abysmia. The attack has gone well, the Terrordromes have been destroyed. A Cobra rage quickly speeds past the Joes on a prearranged escape route. The Joes follow in order to prevent any calls for help. The Mauler, Havoc. Awe Striker, and others are in pursuit.
Snake-Eyes arrives at the midtown New York hospital where Scarlett was being treated. The hospital is being locked down, He encounters a guard who stops him and Marina. The Guard's superior notices Snake-Eyes array of medals A Combat Infantryman's Badge, a Silver Star, and more Purple Hearts than they make additional awards for on his uniform and tells the guard to let him by.
When they reach Scarlett's room they find an empty bed. A familiar voice tells him it's not what he thinks. Stalker and Hawk explain the events that have transpired. ( issue 103 through 107). Marina plays with Order.
In Trucial Abysmia, Falcon is having difficulty stopping the Cobra Rage. A skilled driver, infrared shielding, electronic jamming, and the darkness are hampering his efforts. Lt Falcon decides to pop a flare. When he does they find themselves surrounded by HISS II tanks and Maggots. They have been led into a trap.
Snake-Eyes takes Stalker to Columbia University, Stalker makes a joke about why would Snake-Eyes take him to see the Ghostbusters. We soon see the isolation tanks Snake-Eyes uses, and learn that this is Snake-Eyes hideout just like the water tower is Storm Shadow's. We see Kwinn's( see issue 2-19) .30 caliber machine gun on his wall as well as his famous collection of spike knuckled trench knives.
Scarlett's voice comes from a rear room, where she is tending to the wounded Storm Shadow. She explains to Snake-Eyes all the events of the past few days. Injured badly Snake-Eyes uses the Arashikage mind set to stabilize Storm Shadow, they call an ambulance.
Back in Trucial Abysmia the Joes are fighting it out. All frequencies are jammed and soon Breaker's radio is destroyed.
As the ambulance rushes down the street, Stalker tells his story as well. He shows Snake-Eyes the cloth covered in concrete dust he got from a Night Creeper. Snake-Eyes jumps out of the ambulance which it so happens is right in front of the Cobra Consulate Building. He makes his way to a meeting where Cobra Commander is chastising the Night Creepers for their failure to prove they killed Storm Shadow.
In Trucial Abysmia the Joes are on foot; their vehicles are scrap metal. They are totally surrounded and have wounded, with no other choice, Duke surrenders to Tomax and Xamot. They call Duke a coward and he spits in Tomax's face, his twin brother feels it as well. The twins pounce on Duke punching and kicking him. They utter the words, "If we ever have our way, you'll never leave Trucial Abysmia. Never. Ever."
Snake-Eyes is cutting a swath to Cobra Commander. Nothing stops him and soon he is at the Commander a knife at his throat. Stalker isn't far behind. He explains to the Commander that Snake-Eyes has a personal message for him. Forget about Storm Shadow. Leave NY go to Cobra Island and never set foot there again.
Hawk has met General Crowther, the Juggler behind recent shady events, at the National Archives. Hawk tells Crowther to forget about Snake-Eyes, Storm Shadow, and Stalker. He refuses until he learns from Hawk that Magda, is now elected President of Borovia and she knows the entire story. General Crowther has no choice now. Hawk leaves the General telling him that he should read the Constitution sometime. On the last page we see Snake-Eyes, Stalker, Scarlett, and Storm Shadow in a suburban neighborhood. They have brought Marina ( see previous issues) to live with the family of Wade Collins, a Vietnam vet who was in the long range recon patrol with Stalker, Storm Shadow, and Snake-Eyes, and also a former Cobra Crimson Guardsman. Marina is disappointed that Scarlett and Snake-Eyes aren't adopting her and will only be her Aunt and Uncles, but is soon welcomed into the family.

A team of Joes consisting of Lt. Falcon, Duke, Breaker, Crankcase, Heavy Metal, Thunder, Cross Country, Quick Kick, Doc, and Crazylegs has just destroyed several Terrordromes. They now find themselves the prisoners of Tomax and Xamot.
Tomax and Xamot are beating Duke as the rest watch helplessly at gunpoint. Cross Country attempts to go to Duke's aid only to wind up in a fistfight with a viper. Tired of beating on Duke because their fists are sore, Tomax and Xamot toss Duke and the rest into a ravine. They call Cobra Commander for further orders.
Cobra Commander, still shaken by Snake Eyes infiltration of the Cobra Consulate building in NY (issue 108), is evacuating. Tomax is talking to the commander about the situation. The Commander's response is: "G.I.Joe prisoners? Are you crazy? Get rid of them immediately" Tomax is unclear he asks for clarification. Cobra Commander says" just do it"; he thinks he has just ordered the twins to free the Joes. He does not want to incur any more of Snake Eyes' wrath.
Tomax and Xamot however take the orders in a different context. They decide to have a meeting with some of their nastiest vipers.
In the ravine Cross Country reveals he was able to get a knife off the viper he fought. Cobra is mobilizing and leaving. Tomax and Xamot tell the vipers to "take care of the prisoners". The vipers appear confused asking "feed them?" "You have to be more specific" and "can we have this in writing"
Then a SAW viper appears, a cigarette dangling from his lips. He volunteers for the job. Tomax and Xamot leave him behind with a Cobra Rage and two other Vipers, offering him two months extra pay.
In the ravine the Joes hear the Cobra armor leaving. Doc volunteers to peek over the edge of the ravine. The Joes wonder did Cobra just pack up and leave?
Doc peers over the edge, and is shot dead by the SAW viper. The Joes are trapped in the ravine as the SAW viper that has the high ground fires into them with his heavy machine gun. Some of the Joes sacrifice themselves throwing their bodies over the others. The SAW viper keeps firing. Lt. Falcon gets the knife from Cross Country and throws it into the SAW viper's chest. The two vipers prepare for an attack. Falcon is boosted over the edge of the ravine. He knocks out the SAW viper taking the Machine Gun, but before he can use it he is hit by a viper's bullet in the arm. Quick Kick is out of the ravine and grabs the hog, firing at the vipers until the weapon is empty, tears streaming down his face.
Doc, Thunder, Crankcase, and Heavy Metal are gone. Breaker uses the radio in the Rage to contact the Pit for an evacuation. Hawk plans a rescue mission and the Defiant is launched in ten minutes.
Tomax and Xamot interrupt the transmission, jamming it. They send two HISS II tanks, a Maggot, and two FANG II helicopters to finish the job.
The Joes head to the extraction point. They leave the scene, however the murderous SAW viper isn't dead. Lt. Falcon broke his nose and he swears revenge. He is picked up by the HISS IIs and Maggot.
The Defiant has launched, and Clutch, Rock N Roll, and Wildcard are on their way. It seems that everything Wildcard touches he breaks. Clutch tells him not to touch anything.
The Rage is in battle; the HISS IIs and the Maggot are gaining. Breaker is hit as the FANG IIs attack. Duke shoots the two copters down.
In outer space, Clutch Rock N Roll and Wildcard and some other Joes are in the Mobile Battle Bunker, and are about to be dropped into the atmosphere. Heat shields protect them on re-entry.
The Joes keep battling the Maggot and HISS tanks. The Rage is hit killing Breaker, Crazylegs, and Quick Kick. Cross Country, Duke, and Lt. Falcon are the only three to survive. The Cobra column is closing in.
Falling through the sky, the Mobile Battle Bunker deploys chutes. Then the chutes rip and they begin to plummet.

The SAW viper who took the lives of several Joes is closing in on Duke, Lt. Falcon, and Cross Country. Armed only with their side-arms, the three stand their ground. The SAW viper wants them for himself; he orders the Hiss IIs and Maggot to hold their fire.
Clutch, Rock N Roll, and Wildcard are dropping to the Earth, their parachute lines ripped. Suddenly Wildcard remembers those were just to slow them down and then deploys the secondary chutes. Clutch is not happy and he throttles him.
Tomax and Xamot stand at the border fence of the Emirate of Benzheen, an oil rich country. They call Cobra Commander for further orders. Cobra Commander authorizes the attack. When asked about the Joes the brothers tell what they have done. Cobra Commander is furious.
The SAW viper toys with the Joes walking his bullets toward them slowly. He gets a message from the twins to stop immediately and let them go. The twins are in the middle of a battle, they easily take Benzheen. The Emir however is escaping on his yacht.
The SAW viper leaves but not before Duke bounces a slug off his helmet. Duke's words to the other two are simple. "He's mine. You hear?"
The twins destroy the Emir's yacht but the Emir escapes in a mini-jet launched from it.
The Mobile Battle Bunker meets up with Duke. They leave the bodies of the fallen behind, and take off after the SAW viper.
Cobra Commander is being briefed by the twins; he is none too pleased to hear of the Emir's escape. He is even more distraught to learn that seven Joes were shot. He takes out the monitor grumbling that he is going to take over the operation.
Now that Duke has some firepower he intends to catch up to the SAW viper. Kicking Wildcard Clutch and Rock N roll out of the gunner positions and driver's seats. He uses the Mobile Battle Bunker to destroy tank after tank. The missiles are damaged in the fight. They won't fire unless elevated.
The Joes manually lift them into position much to the tank driver's fear. The last tank is destroyed. The SAW viper, still alive, crawls towards the gun that killed Doc, Thunder, Crankcase, and Heavy Metal. Duke tells him "go for it." The SAW viper stops. He knows that Duke won't shoot an unarmed man. He further knows that Duke can't even take him prisoner legally. He laughs as Duke who has no choice, leaves to pick up the dead. Duke has no choice. Joes take care of their own.
Hawk has mobilized the entire team, all reserves, and all auxiliaries; the Emir has officially requested the aid of the US government. The Joes are going to Benzheen. All of them.

Cobra Commander lands in Benzheen. He takes control of the operation away from Tomax and Xamot. He begins to confront them about the failures and disappointments of their mission as the SAW viper arrives. At first the Commander is furious. The SAW viper points out a few facts like how the Joes having a vendetta for him really isn't new, they have been after him since he ordered Bludd to kill General Flagg.( issue 19) and also that he had caused more damage than the entire Cobra legions had in the past nine years. Cobra Commander changes his attitude and decides to throw a party for the SAW viper instead.
The Joes Lady Jaye, Flint, Armadillo, and Dusty ambush a Cobra border patrol. Hawk meanwhile is in conference with the Emir. The Emir seems to be more interested in preserving his art collection and refineries than any mission objectives. He orders Hawk not to fire in certain areas or use grenades etc. Hawk however is concentrating on the second phase of this mission already in progress.
Wild Bill, Lift Ticket, and Dog Fight are the air support for an attack on a Cobra outpost. On board the Tomahawk is the Cobra Ninja team, Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, Jinx, and Scarlett. All of them except Jinx are recovering in some form or another, Scarlett was recently in a coma, Snake Eyes had been in a mental trance, and Storm Shadow was stabbed by Scarlett. They rappel into Cobra held territory; now that they are inside they begin to surveil the area. The Joe aircraft open up and create a diversion to cover the insertion. The Joe recon support team of Stalker, an arrogant cocky new Joe called Cool Breeze, Sneak Peek, Recoil, and Ambush monitor the insertion.
As the ninjas make their way to their objective Storm Shadow lags behind. The Hammer, Raider, and Rolling Thunder are returning to the desert base their part of this mission accomplished. They soon find themselves the prisoners of Faoud, leader of the local resistance.
The Emir is still stressing his wishes to Hawk, this debate continues until Duke returns carrying the seven bodies (issue 109) in the Mobile Battle Bunker. The Emir can wait. More important matters are at hand, Hawk asks Psyche Out to prepare.
The ninja team has completed the intel gathering. They wind up on top of the Emir's palace. Down below a party is taking place the SAW viper is boasting and the twins are fuming. Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow watch through the skylight above. They can't act however as all the intel they just gathered would be useless if they are found. As Scarlett points out to them, the mission comes first.

The ninja team of Snake eyes, Storm Shadow, Scarlett, and Jinx has gathered information on the placement of Cobra equipment and personnel. Snake eyes is about to compromise the mission. He has his sights set on the SAW viper below him. The SAW viper is boasting and acting very arrogantly, a woman at his side a bottle in his hand and cracking jokes. He demonstrates his shooting skills by shooting the bottles on the bar. Scarlett convinces Snake eyes that he has to wait, the mission comes first.
The Recon team watches as these events unfold. Then the ninjas head out, however Sneak Peak notices that the Night Creepers are on patrol and are right behind them. Cool Breeze makes light of the situation saying the ninjas are more than capable of handling it, he too is cracking jokes. Stalker points out to him that the ninja team isn't at 100 percent and that Flint's team is out of radio contact having missed several radio checks.
Flint meanwhile is talking to the leader of the resistance Faoud, who explains to Flint he isn't after democracy, but power for himself. The hijacked armored column moves into position to attack targets in the city of Benzheen. Flint and Lady Jaye discuss the situation quietly. Faoud notices and escalates his threats by putting his pistol to Lady Jaye's temple. He reveals his plan for his men to fire flares within the city to show the position of the targets.
Unbeknownst to Faoud the ninja team has spotted his men. They stop to assess the situation not knowing the Night Creepers are right behind them. Back with the recon support team Cool Breeze suggests that they break radio silence to warn them. Stalker points out the Night Creepers have radio equipment that would hear that conversation. In return Cool Breeze mentions that they have a jammer and could block the Creepers transmissions to aid the ninja team. Stalker orders Recoil to start jamming, Recoil begins to protest but Stalker insists, realizing the true gravity of the situation.
The ninja team sees the Night Creepers, who try to call and inform Cobra commander but cant because they are being jammed. The ninja team eliminates the Creepers quickly. Cool Breeze is triumphant his plan has worked; he even goes so far as to say he deserves a medal. Stalker soon sets him straight, because they used the jammer now the recon team has to reveal themselves to provide a reason for the jamming so the ninja's mission isn't blown.
Tomax and Xamot learn of the communications lapse and are about to tell Cobra Commander when the SAW viper, drunk, shows up and volunteers himself to go after whoever is out there.
In the meantime the ninjas take out one of Faoud's units but there are many more. A helicopter approaches them; Storm Shadow orders the others to throw their weapons off the roof. The recon support team leaves a clear trail to show their presence. They are about to start jamming again when the missing armor team rolls by. They are way out of position making Stalker realize something is amiss.
The SAW viper seeing the team on the roof unarmed thinks it will be easy pickings. Instead of shooting from the safety of the air he orders the pilot to drop to the roof... he wants to see their faces. As soon as the chopper lands Snake eyes and Storm Shadow jump on board.
Faoud's men at the other sites launch their flares. Faoud orders the Joes to fire on the lit up targets still holding Lady Jaye at gunpoint. Flint is about to reluctantly give the order to fire, when Stalker and his team show up. They stop Faoud's men and Stalker captures Faoud. A Cobra helicopter approaches. Cool Breeze rips off his dog tags hands them to stalker and offers himself as a diversion. He grabs the jammer; he wants to make amends for his earlier mistake. He runs off towards the chopper and starts the jammer. Very lucky for him it is the ninja team on board. His cockiness returns when the team gives him an ego boost by telling him he must be one bad dude. When they learn that the ninjas have been successful the newly liberated armored team picks them up. Stalker is helping Cool Breeze into the moving Hammer, when Faoud slips his pistol off Stalker's belt. Cool Breeze grabs the pistol and takes the bullet. Snake Eyes shoots Faoud in turn. It is too late however Cool Breeze is badly wounded.
Back at the desert base, an empty boot ceremony is about to take place. The Joes arrive; Stalker gives Hawk Cool Breeze's dog tags. He died on the way back; he calls him a real Joe for what he did.
Snake Eyes tosses down the SAW vipers machine gun and we know that as Storm Shadow says, they got some payback; for what its worth.

As the battle rages on in the city of Benzheen, the scene opens in front of a Porsche Dealership at Talib Square with Recon Team Bravo (consisting of Stalker, Sneak-Peek, Dusty, Ambush and Recoil) being pinned down behind parked cars by Cobra forces. To thwart an apparent stalemate, a Frag-Viper and an Alley Viper are ordered to break off and set up a crossfire position in an attempt to flank the Joes and get them to break their cover. As they make their way, the Alley Viper tells the Frag-Viper, "Pick out a good spot... I want to rack up a good score today!"
Stalker calls for relief, but is informed that all other forces are currently committed elsewhere. Dusty and Sneak-Peek take the opportunity to chow down on some M.R.E.s (Meals Ready to Eat). Sneak-Peek begins to knock the M.R.E.s, but Dusty states that at least they're better than the old "C" rations. The conversation leads to a discussion about the last time they both had a "good hot meal." They reminisce about the dinner that Sneak-Peek's mom cooked up when they visited during Christmas leave. Sneak-Peek's thoughts begin to wander as he warmly remembers how he got stuffed and fell asleep on the living room couch, but is shocked back into reality as a bullet pings off the metal hood just inches above his head. "Can't afford to get too distracted by memories in a combat zone!" he says to himself.
Deftly aware that Cobra forces are trying to flank their position, Stalker continues to request support. Back at the command post, Hawk responds that he fully appreciates the severity of their situation, but there's nothing that can be done until the main forces break through. To further complicate matters, the Emir of Benzheen is in the command tent and is watching the Joes' every move. Hawk informs Stalker that the best he can do for now is to put the word out to have anyone momentarily disengaged to swing by and extract them. The Emir observes the battle map and asks what exactly the red marker, located in the middle of his reserve oil storage area, represents. Hawk informs him that it's an advancing unit, Battle-Force 2000. This greatly upsets the Emir, as a battle in that location could easily bankrupt him. Hawk states that it is a key route for his forces and he's gambling that Cobra doesn't want the oil reserves destroyed either. The Emir interrupts "--My oil is not yours to gamble with!" as he runs off to complain. "Better your oil than my troops, your Highness," retorts Hawk.
Back in Benzheen City, the Alley Viper and Frag-Viper find a choice spot that is occupied by a woman and her young son. Observing that the position still doesn't give them a clean shot, they contemplate a plan to lure the Joes out into the open.
In the reserve oil storage, Battle-Force 2000 makes their advance. They talk about how dangerous their situation is, but Dodger says that Cobra doesn't even know they're here. "One of the main reasons Cobra took over... was to snag the oil tanks," he adds. A few moments later, they are told that the main forces have already overrun their objective; Hawk then redirects them to Abu Talib Square to relieve Recon Team Bravo. Battle-Force 2000 acknowledges and proceeds.
Deep in the Benzheen sewer system, Deep Recon Team (consisting of Roadblock, Tunnel Rat, and Muskrat) have just disengaged from a Cobra ambush and begin to proceed to Recon Team Bravo's position as well. Backed into a dead end, Tunnel Rat finds a ladder leading up to a trap door.
Back at the square, Sneak-Peak throws himself over Dusty to protect him from what appears to be grenade, but is actually a stuffed toy. Suddenly, the little boy is shoved out into the line of fire and told by the Frag-Viper to get the toy. For fear that they will hurt his mother, the boy does as he is told. Sneak-Peek runs out to save the kid as Dusty, realizing it's a trap, tries to call him back. Just as Sneak-Peek is about to scoop up the kid, a Range Viper mows him down. The mother frees herself, grabs her son and makes their escape. As Stalker restrains Dusty, his memory flashes back to the Christmas dinner they were discussing earlier. While Sneak-Peek was sleeping, Dusty was helping with the dishes. Sneak-Peak's mom said she had heard all about him, that he had served with her son in the Cobra Island Campaign and that he was a "fine soldier." She begins telling Dusty about how her brother had served in Vietnam and was listed as missing in action after his unit was overrun. She talked about how her family never got his body back and how the government didn't seem to care. "It was awful for mama--the not knowing," she said. She then asks Dusty to make a promise... that if anything should happen to her son, that he would bring him back to her. Dusty says, "I promise" as he reawakens in the midst of the battle. Stalker informs him that they are moving out, but Dusty refuses to leave Sneak-Peek behind. Stalker won't allow him to go out after him and end up shot, as well. Sneak-Peek painfully calls out for help.
The Emir calls Cobra Commander and says that he would appreciate it if he did not attack the Battle-Force 2000 team while they were amidst the oil tanks. Cobra Commander then forces the Emir to make a deal so that won't attack, but the Emir only offers $500 million. Displeased, Cobra Commander calls for the battery to fire on Battle-Force 2000's location.
The resulting explosions from the oil storage tanks can be seen/heard from Recon Team Bravo's position. Dusty realizes that they are on their own again.
Dodger pulls out of the smoke and flames, calls for his team to report, but realizes that he's the only one left.
Deep Recon Team makes their way through the lavishly decorated enlisted quarters of the Benzheen Army. The team moves closer to area where the sound of gunfire is coming from.
Stalker knows that his team has no choice but to extricate themselves. He decides that the best course of action is to rush the Cobras and "collect a little payback" before cashing in their chips. Ambush asks which position they are going to rush and Dusty answers that they should go after the new position, from where the kid was shoved. Recoil says that they will get mowed down before they get halfway across the open space. Stalker replies, "Yeah, well them's the breaks. Whatsamatter, Recoil? You sign up in this outfit for the nifty pension?"
As Recon Team Bravo rushes, Recoil and Ambush are hit. As Stalker and Dusty continue running, Stalker orders Dusty to leave Sneak-Peek behind and keep moving. Dusty disobeys and moves to recover Sneak-Peek's body. At the same time, Deep Recon Team breaks through a door directly behind the Cobra forces and begins to mow them down. Dodger rams his Marauder through the same building and opens fire on the Cobras saying, "This is for the rest of the Battle-Force 2000!" Stalker continues rushing as Dusty throws Sneak-Peek over his shoulders. Stalker breaks through window and takes out the Alley Viper, but left open for attack by the Frag-Viper who is about to shoot. Suddenly, the Frag-Viper slumps to the floor as Dusty holds his smoking gun.
Recon Team Bravo, Deep Recon Team, and Dodger make their way back to the command post. Stretcher rushes out to give them medical assistance and checks Sneak-Peek. Realizing that Sneak-Peek had been dead for hours, he asks Dusty why he carried him all the way back here. Dusty replies, "I promised."
The Emir calls Cobra Commander and demands to know why he destroyed the oil storage tanks. Cobra Commander responds that the offer was too low, and that they should bargain again now that they both know the rules.

Dusty, Rock N Roll and Salvo are riding in the Hammer, a lightly armored vehicle, Steeler is driving the Pulverizer and Hot seat is in the Raider. The three vehicles make short work of a few HISS II tanks. The drivers of the two tracked vehicles, Steeler and Hot Seat make fun of the Joes in the Hammer, saying they are basically there to get them coffee.
In Quagmarth, a neutral state bordering Trucial Abysmia and Benzheen, the Emir is having a clandestine meeting. The location of the meeting appears to be a rough seedy bar. He has set up a meeting with none other than Cobra Commander.
Meanwhile the trio of Joe vehicles continues onward; they are attacked by Metal Head, a one man missile launcher. He has the element of surprise and destroys the Pulverizer mildly injuring Steeler. Metal Head leaves and Steeler adding insult to injury turns down Dusty's offer for him to ride with them. He chooses to ride shotgun in the Raider. The two now take off chasing Metal Head into an alley.
The Emir, not pleased with Cobra Commander's price for him to buy back his country, calls in his assassins. They barely make it into the door of the place when they are gunned down. A Night Creeper deals with Salim, the Emir's bodyguard. Another Night Creeper puts a knife to the Emir's neck. The Raider runs into a dragon's teeth tank trap. The Hammer can't follow but the Raider goes ahead, forcing the Hammer to make a detour. Before they can do so Metal Head destroys the Hammer. Dusty noticed the attack coming and bailed out the three Joes before they got hit. Metal Head goes into a sewer locking it up behind him. Dusty Rock N Roll and Salvo are now on foot. Hot Seat and Steeler find Metal Head and follow him right into another trap. Metal Head brings a whole building down on them. Buried in rubble the Raider slowly digs its way out. Metal Head stops them by blowing off their tracks. Now a sitting duck Steeler and Hot Seat are trapped and the canopy won't open. Dusty and the other two arrive and keep Metal Head busy so he can't get a lock on the Raider. Just as the firefight intensifies, there is a radio message relayed to both Cobra and Joe to cease fire. Cobra is pulling out and; no longer welcomed by the Emir the Joes too must leave.
On Cobra Island a group of Vipers is investigating the buried freighter (issue 98) they find a tunnel dug out from the inside. They call in Techno-vipers and Toxo-vipers as reinforcements. They find several bodies that appear to have died of botulism. There are two bodies missing, Zartan and Billy.

Ace and Dog Fight crash-land a Skystriker on the deck of the USS Flagg. They were on a recon mission over supposedly friendly territory. This news leads Hawk to believe that Cobra Commander and the Emir really have made a deal. He decides it is time to send in the stealth.
Hawk is briefing Ghost Rider but can't remember his codename so he refers to him as Capt Jeffries. He tells him Slipstream will be his back seat man.
They take off from the Flagg and are on their way. Ghost Rider lets Slipstream take the controls as he opens his top secret mission orders.
The Emir is having another meeting with the Commander. He is upset that the Skystriker was shot at. Cobra Commander physically pins the Emir against a wall threatening to twist off his head and reminds him of what their deal consisted of. A Televiper comes in and reports that a Condor witnessed the Skystriker crash landing and another aircraft took off shortly after that and is heading towards the gulf.
Wild Weasel is flying picket duty in a Rattler when the stealth zips by him, nothing shows up on his instruments but he sees the plane against the horizon and pursues. Unable to use his targeting systems Wild Weasel uses his gatling gun. Worried; Slipstream calls Ghost Rider Stealthy and in turn Ghost Rider calls him Dogfight (perhaps). The stealth leads the Rattler to the coast where Rampart and Backblast are waiting, the pair shoot down the Rattler. Cobra Commander responds by filling the air with all manner of planes and alerting all his ASP emplacements and Adders. He then cuts off all power to the city. The stealth pilot sees the city go dark, and then sees several hundred specks in the sky only to figure out that they are actually Cobra's air contingent. Ghost Rider takes the stealth low, very low, riding the interstate. They reach an overpass and are forced to climb right into spotlights. The sky is filled with antiaircraft fire. The X-19 finds its target and he pushes the button on the joystick.
Soon Hawk is holding a picture of a Firebat launching out of a Terrordrome. He congratulates Dog Fight (actually Slipstream?) and the stealth pilot; who he still calls Captain Jeffries as he can't remember his codename. The two ask to be excused and go to check on their plane. They have a discussion about how the Sioux used sticks to touch their enemy and "count coup" as they look at the mangled wreckage of the stealth on the flight deck.

A squad of Vipers checks the freighter on Cobra Island, and reports to Cobra Commander that all the bodies have been accounted for except for Zartan and Billy. They also report that an aircraft is missing. Cobra Commander is upset, so Tomax and Xamot try to cheer him up with the profits from Benzheen. That doesn't work, so Tomax suggests that they start with the "Destro Operation."
In Scotland, Destro and Baroness watch a housing development being built. Baroness worries that it is a Cobra front, but Destro reassures her that his security people have checked it all out. On their way back to the castle they discover a large cord for a power generator. MacHeath, Destro's gameskeeper, interrupts them. After Destro and Baroness leave, MacHeath gives the all clear signal into a radio.
Low-Light, Big Ben and Flint subdue a local worker, and by checking his brand of underwear, realize he is not really a local. The Joes have a run in with Zartan and Billy, but they are able to escape.
Metal Head reports to Destro that Cobra Commander may be planning a strike against him. Destro seems unconcerned by this, even though Metal Head had been working for Cobra Commander.
The next morning, Hawk, Lady Jaye and Snake Eyes arrive. As Flint is briefing them on the situation, Cobra Commander leads a strike against the castle.
Destro seems ready for the strike, but showed no concern the night before in case there were spies. MacHeath assists in trying to fight off Cobra in a Razorback. As MacHeath destroys some buildings in the housing development, Destro realizes what has happened. The workers were all hypnotized with a Brainwave Scanner, and they've been digging under the castle to set explosive charges.
MacHeath, who reveals that he's actually Chuckles, takes Destro and Baroness out of range of the castle. Cobra Commander pursues, but is only able to capture the Baroness before Zartan and Billy rescue Destro and Chuckles in a helicopter. Destro wanted to stay to help the Baroness, but Billy knocks him out with a nerve hold.

Zartan realizes that the helicopter is running low on fuel, so he has Billy wake Destro up to pilot the helicopter low over a train's tank car. Zartan jumps from the helicopter to the tank car and begins refueling the helicopter. Destro is upset that he was taken away from the Baroness, but Billy assures him that Cobra Commander would have killed both of them if they were there. Destro vows to take back his castle and the Baroness. Chuckles offers his help "off the record."
The Joes sift through the remains of Destro's castle, and Lady Jaye states that Cobra Commander is going to have to hunt Destro down and kill him. Hawk thinks there may now be an open contract on Destro, so he sends Snake Eyes to protect Destro.
Cobra Commander puts a price of twenty million dollars on Destro's head, and many groups including the Night Creepers, the Corsican Brotherhood, and the Beirut Terrorist Front decide to try to cash in on it.
Chuckles lands the helicopter in France, and trades the helicopter for cash and a car. The auto dealer reports to the BTF that he's seen Destro as soon as they leave.
In New York, Storm Shadow's training of Ninja Force is interrupted by a call for help from Snake Eyes. Storm Shadow takes Ninja Force to help in Beirut.
Chuckles parks the car in front of a bar where the Corsican Brotherhood is. The BTF, using the information from the auto dealer, attacks the bar and the Corsican Brotherhood while Zartan, Destro, Billy and Chuckles watch from a nearby boat. The boat is attacked by a helicopter full of Night Creepers, but they are defeated.
In Beirut, armed soldiers dressed as room service prepare to invade Snake Eyes' room.

The "room service" agents attempt to capture Snake Eyes, but he disarms them.
In Beirut, the Night Creepers and the Beirut Terrorist Front (BTF) await the ship that Zartan, Billy, Destro, and Chuckles were on. Scans of the ship show no life forms aboard, so the Night Creepers and the BTF head off to search for any lifeboats. They find the crew, but not who they were looking for.
On the ship, Zartan, Billy, Destro and Chuckles step out of the refrigerator, which hid their heat signatures. The ship is about to plow into the docks, so the group jumps off the boat and runs for solid land.
There they meet Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, and Ninja Force, who offer to escort them to the airport. The BTF and the Night Creepers attempt to stop them.
On Cobra Commander's ship, he places the Baroness into the Brainwave Scanner, messing with her memories.
Back in Beirut, Destro leads his group into a laser grid. Destro signals for Rashid to turn off the laser grid. Once aboard the airplane, Rashid explains how he knows the G.I.Joe team, specifically Mainframe and Dusty (Issue 58). Rashid learned from them that computers are the future, and he has been studying them ever since.
Destro, Zartan, Billy, and Ninja Force attack the Night Creepers' headquarters in Zurich, and Rashid hacks into their computers. Rashid opens a channel to Cobra Commander, and Destro demands the release of the Baroness and restitution for his castle. Cobra Commander resists until Rashid wipes out records of Cobra Commander's Swiss Bank accounts. Cobra Commander agrees to the terms and frees the Baroness.
The Night Creepers are planning to attack Destro's group, but he threatens to inform Cobra Commander that they are hacking into his accounts also, so they back off.

A cargo plane makes a delivery to Cobra Commander. One crate is missing, so Cobra Commander shoots the loadmaster. Cobra Commander orders someone to go retrieve the missing crate.
The next morning, an airport manager finds the crate, opens it, and finds a robot replica of the President of the United States. Hawk is informed of this, places a bug in the crate, and orders it returned to where it was found. Cobra returns for the crate, not knowing they are being tracked. Hawk is able to trace the shipments back to the Cobra Consulate building, and sends Scarlett, Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow to infiltrate and plant a homing device.
Inside the building, the trio finds robot replicas of many nations' leaders, and also of some Joes. The Snake Eyes robot attacks Storm Shadow, but the real Snake Eyes saves him. After planting the homing device, Scarlett acts like a robot and takes Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow to Cobra Commander. Cobra Commander is amused by the ploy, then has his Vipers attack. Scarlett, Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow are able to defeat them, but Cobra Commander escapes.
Wild Bill launches the smart bomb at the consulate as Scarlett, Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow attempt to escape. The trio passes the smart bomb on their way out of the building and they make it to the waiting helicopter. The smart bomb destroys all the replica robots, and another missile destroys the storage structure on Cobra Commander's island.

Destro meets Cobra Commander to retrieve the Baroness. Destro also ask for and receives the title to the castle in Trans-Carpathia as reparations for the destruction of Castle Destro. Baroness strikes Cobra Commander before she and Destro leave with two Cobra Battle Copters.
Destro and Baroness fly to the castle and Destro reveals that he designed the castle. He also tells the story of Snake Eyes invading the castle to rescue Scarlett, and that loss is why Cobra Commander hasn't used the castle since then.
The Night Creepers talk with Cobra Commander, who reveals that he knows that they have been looking into his bank accounts. He also states that Baroness has been programmed to brainwash Destro into Cobra's servitude.
Hawk, Flint and Lady Jaye watch from outside the castle, and Destro signals that everything is ok. Lady Jaye sees something at the top of the castle, but is not sure what.
Slice and Dice are atop the castle, and they spot the Joes and something moving along the cliff, where Ninja Force is rappelling down.
A Condor flies over the castle and activates the Baroness' programming. Baroness lures Destro downstairs to the Brainwave Scanner and attacks him. Then, a group of Red Ninjas attack, but Baroness and Destro are able to fight them off. They attempt to escape, but are stopped by Slice and Dice.
More Joes enter Trans-Carpathia to support Destro.
